The New York Times has put up an interactive satellite map of Port-Au-Prince in Haiti showing the city both before and after the devastating earthquake of January 12th.

 

 

Dragging the satellite image, you can see just how much destruction they're dealing with there. It's a little overwhelming, to say the very least. The parks, especially, as once empty green spaces are now filled with tents and makeshift shelters.

For those interested in giving, we've got a small list of charities you might want to consider. We're not endorsing these organizations or anything, but they are some of the ones a few of us have donated to in the past. Also, remember that, before giving to ANY charity, it's important to do a little investigation into that organization to make sure that your donation is properly used. As sad as it seems, there are a lot of scam artists out there who like to use tragedies like this for personal gain.
