Doctor Finder Locates and Reviews Your New DoctorFinding a new doctor (especially if you need a specific specialty) is pretty difficult, especially if you have no recommendations to guide you. Web service Doctor Finder's searchable database of detailed patient reviews can help you find the right one.

The search engine is pretty easy to use, and even has a few more detailed options to help you out, like filtering by specialty and insurance. You can search up to 20 miles away, specify a gender, and even how much experience they have. By default, Doctor Finder sorts your results by the best reviews first, and then by number of reviews, so you can be sure one of the first few on the list is a pretty good pick (though you can read all the reviews to be sure).

The are a lot of reviews available on the site (most of which seem to be pulled from CitySearch), which is nice. They don't have reviews for all of the doctors in a given area, but it does have a pretty good number of them, and again—if you have no recommendations to go off of, this is way better than just picking one at random from your insurer's list.

Someone Paid $250 Million For Some PBR




After nearly a decade on the market, someone has finally gotten beer-goggled enough to plunk down the cash to purchase Pabst Brewing Co. According to reports, the deal went down for an ice-cold $250 million, though for only a dollar more they could have gotten a shot of Jameson to go along with it.



Pabst, which not only has the loved/loathed Pabst Blue Ribbon brand, but also Schlitz, Old Style, Lone Star and Colt 45, had been owned by the Kalmanovitz Charitable Foundation, but federal law prohibits charities from owning for-profit businesses for more than five years.



The Foundation had been ordered to sell the company by 2005, but got a 5-year extension from the IRS.



The reported buyer of the brewer -- the #5 suds supplier in the U.S. -- is C. Dean Metropoulos, who has made his name managing big-time brands like Bumble Bee Tuna, Vlasic Pickles, Chef Boyardee, Duncan Hines and Ghirardelli Chocolates.

Treat Your Own Neck saved my neck! The book is very thin but packed with the info you need to treat your neck pain. The author clearly explains the physiology of the neck, and describes specific exercises to treat specific types of neck pain/injury. The exercises are simple, but not intuitive.

About a year ago I got a bulged disc in my neck. This had never happened before, and I had no idea what was going on. I had very limited movement and what movement I had was very painful. At first, I thought it was just a sore or stiff neck from an awkward bike riding position, or a slight workout injury. As it progressively worsened over the next couple of weeks I started to realize this was more serious. A visit to my MD and a referral to a neurologist confirmed the bulged disc diagnosis. What was their advice for me? Basically a shrug, and they said, "Sometimes it goes away, sometimes you just have to live with it." They offered me some muscle relaxants. I couldn't believe that was all modern medicine had to offer.

I was a little panicked, to be honest. I wasn't really interested in being partially disabled. I remembered a couple of friends who'd experienced debilitating back problems. They both solved their own issues using some exercises out of book. I figured maybe there was something in there for me, too. Turns out the author, Robin McKenzie, wrote a book for backs, AND a book for necks!

Personally, I'd never have figured this out on my own. By following the exercises in the book my neck pain was reduced the first day, and eliminated within two weeks. For my particular symptoms, the book provided just one specific exercise, and suggested some postural changes while sitting and sleeping. Though my bulged disc is gone, I continue to use this exercise whenever I have a stiff or sore neck (bad posture at work, or long drives), and continue to find immediate relief.

The book is the price of an insurance co-payment and, for me at least, worth many times what I paid.

Cook Pasta Like Risotto for Faster One-Pot MealsIf waiting for water to boil is your least favorite part of pasta, you'll want to try "pasotto." It's cooking pasta like risotto, giving you a faster-cooking meal that punches flavor into noodles and keeps noodles and sauce in one pot.

In the example recipe provided by Sophie Brickman, based on a method used by famed chef Alain Ducasse, you toast your pasta (the non-string-noodle kind) in olive oil, then add garlic, onions, and leeks, and then add white wine and chicken stock slowly to the pan, letting it all soak into the noodles as you go. After adding your protein, the starches let off by the pasta and the remaining olive oil have created a sauce right in the pan, and your noodles have remained firm and thoroughly infused with flavor.

We've previously suggested methods of cooking all kinds of pasta with less water and in a pressure cooker, which also save time and liquid. "Pasotto," however, is a whole different style, one with the added benefit of beefing up your simple-dinner repertoire.

Lost Finale Had 107 Commercials: More Than 45 Minutes Worth

So, Lost ended, as you may have heard, and you also may have heard your friends complaining about the number of commercials that were in the finale. EW says there were 107 of them in 2.5 hours -- or more than 45 minutes worth.

From EW:

ABC packed roughly 107 spots — or more than 45 minutes of commercial and promotional time — into the two-and-a-half-hour Lost series finale, according to our (very unscientific but pretty reliable) count. Just when the finale would unveil a major plot point, a break would occur featuring anywhere from five to 11 ads and/or sneak peeks for fall shows on ABC. Granted, some of the spots were extremely clever (Target used images of the island's smoke monster to peddle fire detectors) but numerous, nonetheless.
EW says the typical hour of show will have 18-20 commercials -- whereas the first hour of Lost had 37!

Study Finds Sunscreen May Help Cancer Develop Rather Than Prevent It

The advice for the Class of 99 was to wear sunscreen, but the Environmental Working Group doesn't think that's such great advice, concluding that sunscreen does little to prevent skin cancer and in fact may speed up the rate at which cancer develops and spreads.

AOL reports the Food and Drug Administration has known about the effects but not reported them to the public. The FDA denies the accusation.

From the story:

In their annual report to consumers on sunscreen, they say that only 39 of the 500 products they examined were considered safe and effective to use.

The report cites these problems with bogus sun protection factor (SPF) numbers:

* The use of the hormone-disrupting chemical oxybenzone, which penetrates the skin and enters the bloodstream.

* Overstated claims about performance.

* The lack of needed regulations and oversight by the Food and Drug Administration.

The best sunscreen, of course, is a roof over your head.

The folks at Rescue-Time, who make software that helps you (and companies) figure out how you spend your online time, did a modest calculation based on their user base and concluded that Google's playable PAC-MAN doodle cost the world over 4.8 million person-hours of productivity last Friday. "Google PAC-MAN consumed 4,819,352 hours of time (beyond the 33.6M daily man hours of attention that Google Search gets in a given day). $120,483,800 is the dollar tally, If the average Google user has a COST of $25/hr. (note that cost is 1.3 – 2.0 X pay rate). For that same cost, you could hire all 19,835 Google employees, from Larry and Sergey down to their janitors, and get 6 weeks of their time." Also, Google made the doodle permanent.

Tonight’s Episode of House Shot Entirely with Canon 5D Mark II

House - 5D Mark II

The season finale of House is on tonight.  Normally, that wouldn't be news for Photography Bay.  However, it's a bit different because the entire episode was filmed with the Canon 5D Mark II and Canon EF lenses.

You can catch a preview of the episode here.

I can't say I've ever watched an episode of the show, but I think I'll join in tonight just out of the curiosity factor.  The show starts at 8PM ET / PT.
