If you're looking for something other than sugary store-bought popsicles for a cool, delicious treat this summer, the kid-centric web site Family Education has a recipe for frozen yogurt pops.

You've probably seen or even made your own DIY popsicles, but a simple twist using yogurt instead of fruit juice makes for a healthier alternative.
To make the pops, you'll need yogurt, small paper cups, aluminum foil and popsicle sticks. (You could also use a commercially available mold.) Preparation is simple: Just fill the cups with yogurt, cover with foil, insert the sticks, and freeze until solid. You can use your favorite store-bought yogurt or make your own.
Since most yogurts contain gelatin, yogurt pops should melt slower than popsicles. That means slower eaters may not need to resort to coffee filters or Dixie cups to contain drips. Before you go wild and make up a year's supply though, a comment on the Family Education site says these do have a shelf life:
Any frozen yogurt product will change in texture if frozen too long, so try not to freeze up much more than you intend to use within a week.
You can keep things interesting by changing up the recipe here and there too:
- Add chopped fruit
- Layer different flavors of yogurt
- Use ice cube trays for a bite-size version
- For bigger pops, put the sticks straight into the yogurt cups through the foil lids
- Use pudding instead of yogurt
